A lot of people have advocated for a Dog Tethering Law in Clinton County. Advocates have attended countless legislature meetings, signature events, parades, and town meetings. Supporters have spent a lot of time and hard earned money to try and bring our county animal cruelty laws up into the year 2025. It may look like we are having fun, but the reality is we are fighting for a common sense law and having to fight way too hard. While we are working so hard, many of the legislators can’t be bothered to read a law, provide any feedback whatsoever, or do any research! The legislators are the ones who were elected and are getting paid! Many of our current elected officials need to be replaced and voted out in the upcoming elections!

We’ve had this sign on our parade float in at least four parades now. “If the shoe fits, wear it!” Now legislators are upset, I mean VERY upset that we are saying they are fighting us hard. It’s the truth, and this falls under Freedom of Speech. This sign will continue to be on our float in every parade.
On July 13, 2025 after the Altona parade I had an altercation with Francis Peryea and his wife over this sign. They yelled profanities at me and insisted I remove this sign from my float. Sorry, but no.
We were also cut out of both of Calvin Castine’s Altona and City of Plattsburgh Parade videos because we are carrying this sign on our float. He blatantly cuts us out of the videos. To be honest this is nothing new as in previous parades he didn’t announce us or even have the camera on a us many times anyway.

The City of Plattsburgh 4th of July parade where we were literally cut right out of the parade video by Calvin Castine. I guess he didn’t like our sign that said “Legislators fighting us hard.” and his name was included.
We registered over a month ago for the parade and when we got there, we weren’t on the list. Interesting that Calvin Castine said he checked on whether we were registered… The Peru fire department wasn’t on the list when they arrived either, but he had no problem introducing them in the parade.

(Moments after we were banned from addressing the legislature in future meetings.)
