Clinton County New York Dog Tethering Law Campaign

DON’T WAIT FOR “SOMEONE” TO STOP ANIMAL ABUSE. YOU ARE SOMEONE.

Area 4 Legislator Dave Bezio- Clinton County, New York

“How you treat animals, tells me everything I need to know about you.”

“How hard you fight to keep dogs on chains, tells me even more about you.”

Dave Bezio Legislator Area 4 (Democrat)- Legislator Dave Bezio is the legislator for 1/2 of Beekmantown and part of the Town of Plattsburgh. Dave Bezio won the Area 4 Legislature seat in the 2025 election.

Sam Dyer the Beekmantown Town supervisor has lobbied Dave Bezio for a very long time, in order to encourage him to vote against the Dog Tethering Law. On June 4, 2025 Dave Bezio voted against allowing us a public hearing, despite the Town of Plattsburgh’s strong desire for a countywide law. Dave Bezio is very easily influenced by others.

Dave Bezio after one year of us explaining what a Dog Tether Law is in many meetings, indicated that he thought a Dog Tethering Law meant people would allow their dogs to run free. He clearly wasn’t listening when we spoke in 30 or more legislature meetings. Dave Bezio indicated we are doing a great job going town-to-town, and we should continue to do that. That would mean 17 separate laws in one county, which completely defies common sense.
