The Mayor of Plattsburgh Wendell Hughes was very supportive of a Dog Tethering Law. Unfortunately something has changed. Back in February of 2025 Wendell did an interview with WCAX where he indicated he would have a law in place within 6-months. It is now November 2025 and Wendell has not pursued a law at all. We are very disappointed and not sure what’s going on. We were expecting the City of Plattsburgh to lead the way, instead the city hasn’t done anything to put a law in place. Please reach out to Wendell Hughes and the City Council members and ask them to put a Dog Tethering Law in place immediately.
