The Town of Peru despite town residents attending a meeting back in February 2025 refuses to create a Dog Tethering Law. The Town Supervisor is against creating a law and will not communicate with us to even learn about a law. They seem to have very limited information and are not very open minded.
There are a lot of dogs in Peru living their lives on chains 24/7. Unfortunately we don’t see any changes coming soon as there is nobody running against their town supervisor Craig Randall in 2025. Peru’s county Legislator Rob Timmons voted against a county law saying that Peru does not want the law. Meanwhile Rob Timmons’ second town, the Town of Ausable approved their own Dog Tethering Law in the Spring of 2024.
